Geel-Bel

Shifting dunes aplenty!
Wander through an area with medieval roots. This landscape was formed because it was modified and exploited for years by the inhabitants of the village Bel, and its former structure is still visible. Here you will find shifting dunes, wet grasslands, coniferous forests, meres, seepage areas and small-scale meadows and fields. Be sure to visit the so-called ‘Devil’s pit’ in Mol, a centuries-old mere that is 300 metres long.

The role of Kempens Landschap
Our organisation owns this area. Several plans have been drawn up for developing the domain. Part of the Geel-Bel area was selected as a separate project within the land-use project ‘Grote Nete’. In 2007-2008 and 2015, redevelopment works were carried out. The Torfven in Geel and the Duivelskuil in Mol were upgraded.
