From the Hoevendijk, walk through the forest to this Campine mere. Continue your stroll along the wooden boardwalk over the water. In this way, your feet stay dry and nature remains undisturbed. Here you will encounter heaths and pine forest.
The role of Kempens Landschap
Our organisation bought this greenspace in 2007. Because it was partly silted up, it was dug out again in the winter of 2011 to give nature every opportunity to thrive. A gently sloping bank with a gradual transition to real woodland provides a variety of biotopes richly populated by flora and fauna. The pine forest is gradually becoming a mixed native forest with species such as Scots pine, English oak, silver birch, rowan and alder buckthorn.
