Philipsbos
Discover forest and heath
Explore the Philipsbos or – as it used to be known – the Bouwelse Heide, which comprises around 43 hectares. The Philipsbos is a mixed forest with numerous wooded avenues, a watercourse and several heaths. There is mainly Scots pine, English oak and birch, along with several non-native species such as American oak, Norway spruce and Corsican pine. Everyone is welcome to explore the forest, and children can enjoy themselves in the specially designed play area.
The role of Kempens Landschap
Our organisation bought the forest in 2010 and manages it together with the municipality of Grobbendonk and the Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos. In 2012, their common vision was given a firm basis in a forest management plan. Gradually, the forest will be transformed into a mixed native forest with many different biotopes in which a great variety of flora and fauna will feel at home.
