Speelbergenbos

Woodland meadow
This woodland meadow is located near the Pelgrimhof. The hiking trail makes a loop around the forest. En route, you’ll see mostly poplars, ash and small-leaved linden. At the edge of the forest are shrubs such as hawthorn, alder buckthorn and hazel.

The role of Kempens Landschap
Since 2002, our organisation has owned the Speelbergenbos. This has reinforced the natural structure around Heist-op-den-Berg. Through targeted management and the planting of indigenous shrubs, a more diverse biotope is stimulated.
