Zwartgoorheide
Greenbelt
The Zwartgoorheide is a forest of around 42 hectares that, together with other, similar areas, forms a greenbelt around the municipality of Vosselaar. In addition to forests of common and Corsican pine, nearly one-fourth of the area consists of open space and meadows. You can come here not only to hike, but also to cycle or take part in equestrian sports. Children will enjoy the large forest playground.
The role of Kempens Landschap
Our organisation bought this area in 2001. The municipality of Vosselaar is responsible for management, supported by the Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos. Maintenance works resulted in more open space and less favourable species such as the black cherry were pushed back. Local farmers take care of the fields and meadows.
