An island in the greenery

This domain has grown around the Rouwmoershoeve, which had its origins in the 17th century. Father Frans Godts founded a monastery there in 1908 for recovering Redemptorists who had returned from missionary work in places like Belgian Congo. Soon after, a neo-Gothic school was added to the monastery: the basis for the current secondary and elementary school Eucharistisch Hart. The school complex is surrounded by a cloister garden, orchards, woods and extensive farmland. In the park you will encounter small landscape and heritage elements such as a cemetery, a small chapel, a Lourdes grotto and a pond with a picturesque bridge.

The role of Kempens Landschap

Our organisation bought the park from the Redemptorists in 2013. Since then, Kempens Landschap has managed this greenspace and its heritage elements. By means of projects, the park is being systematically restored to its former glory.
