Ruins of Sint-Michielskerk
Medieval church
In Westmeerbeek, a suburb of Hulshout, you will find these intriguing church ruins. Originating in the 15th century, the church is built of ironstone. Today only the tower and the walls with their graceful arches remain. The tower is incorporated into a modern church built at a right angle to the ruined original church.
The role of Kempens Landschap
The ruin is property of the municipality of Hulshout. The city council wants to breathe new life into this protected monument and has therefore called on the services of Kempens Landschap. Our organisation is helping search for possible functions in and around the ruins, and we are also guiding the restoration process.
